About me
I have always had an interest in sciences and have a background in ecology and biology. I have had various professions over the years, but after the birth of my children I took further training and had a career turn into healthcare. Whilst working in a hospital setting I began to see the huge impact human touch has on the wellbeing of patients. I longed to spend more time giving individual care to people and to provide a truly holistic approach. My journey into holistic therapies began with my own first reflexology session. Feeling both physically and mentally stressed, I had booked myself for a massage and after a consultation the therapist recommended reflexology. The moment my treatment finished I knew I had to learn more about it. I had already decided to move away from the hospital environment and become self employed and I was keen to incorporate reflexology into my work as a birth doula. Although I am no longer working as a doula, I still love supporting women holistically on their journey of becoming a parent.
I began my training at the Alison Rostron School of Massage in Norwich in 2011, completing a level 3 ITEC diploma in Holistic Massage in 2012 and a level 3 ITEC dipoma in Reflexology in 2013. I also had the pleasure of attending a final course with Alison, Advanced and Remedial Massage, before her retirement from teaching in 2013. Over the years I have attended several advanced level courses and extended my knowledge of both massage and reflexology techniques. As a mum, doula and therapist it was only natural that I would come to specialise in women's health. Having received further training in working with women in all stages of life, I am able to offer safe and effective treatments from pre-conception to menopause. I have attended courses with some very well known and respected teachers such as Suzanne Yates from Well Mother and midwife Gail Tully from Spinning Babies. I have recently added baby massage and reflexology, supporting parents during the early months with massage and reflexology for their babies and encouraging communication and a special bond. I am currently putting all of my science training to further use and am studying for a clinical aromatherapy degree, something which I have wanted to do for years.
My therapy clinic was located at Neal's Yard Remedies in Norwich before my family relocated to Louth in 2015 and Magnolia Therapies began. I practice a wide range of massage treatments and do enjoy seeing the results of that therapy, but my true passion is reflexology. I find the deep relaxation experienced during a treatment is very beneficial for anyone and everyone. It sometimes makes me think of looking after patients in the hospital, when sometimes the only care you could give was just holding a hand and that gentle touch could put them at so much ease. I'm so pleased to have more skills in complementary care now. There is a growing amount of research which supports reflexology and the only way to know if it's for you is to give it a try.
I am a member of The Association of Reflexologists (AOR) and as a member of this professional organisation, I follow a strict code of conduct and keep my practice up to date with regular continuing professional development.
